Duo land silver medals at SIAB's.

George Drake and Taisha Thompson-Gregory landed silver medals in the SIAB School's International at Ashford, Kent on Saturday 21st July.

The youngsters had previously won silver medals at the English Schools Championships and because of this they were automatically selected for this competition.

Taisha improved her personal best jump from those championships to jump 5.86 in the long jump, whilst George won his silver medal in the triple jump with 13.39.

Congratulations to both youngsters!

Taisha is the Golden Girl at the Midlands.

Taisha Thompson-Gregory (U17 women) took the honours in the Midland Championships which were held at Saffron Lane on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July 2012. She won gold medals in both the long jump with a leap of 5.46 and in the triple jump with 11.01.

Jumpers George Drake (U17 men) won the gold medal in the triple jump with his leap of 13.27 whilst Rhondell Stabana won the U20 men long jump event with a 5.96 jump.

Sally Preston (U17 women) won gold in the discus with a throw of 34.40. She also claimed the bronze medal in her other event, the shot, with her throw of 9.04.

Silver medals at the English Schools' Championships, Gateshead for George and Taisha!

Terrific performances from George Drake (Inter Boys) and Taisha Thompson-Gregory (Inter Girls) saw silver medals return home from the English School's Championships back to Leicester.

Triple jumper George landed a personal best performance with his jump of 13.99, which was an improvement of 25 centimetres on his previous best mark. His leap also moves him to 5th on the Power of 10 rankings for his age group.

Not to be outdone, Taisha landed herself a 19 centimetre personal best performance in the LJ with her jump of 5.83. This moves Taisha to 2nd on the Power of 10 rankings for her age group.

Mari Smith (Inter girls) finished just outside the medals in 4th place in the 800m with her time of 2.09.90

Ben shines at Charnwood Open Meeting (Wednesday 4th July 2012)

Ben Dijkstra U15b ran a huge personal best performance in the 3000m at the Charnwood Open Meeting with 9.25.21. This terrific performance by the youngster saw him knock 23 seconds from his previous best and place him in 4th on the Power of 10 rankings for his age group.

Not only that but his time is only 8 seconds outside of the club record which is held by Robert Slater and has stood since 1974. If Ben continues in his rich vein of form he should surely reduce this record by the end of the track season - but failing that he still has another year in this age group!

Birmingham BMC PB Classic races (Saturday 30th June 2012)

Cameron Smith U15b knocked a terrific 8 seconds from his personal best performance with a 4.28.87 in the 1500m at Birmingham.

James Hatton U17 men managed to dip under the two minute barrier for 800m for the first time. The youngster tripped and almost fell but managed to keep his composure, and more importantly his footing, to finish with a fantastic 1.59.83.

There were also personal best performances from Jordan Waine, Mikela Gilmore, Ben Dijkstra, Caitlin Roper, Alison Curtis, Serena Moore and David Robertson.
