There were some great results from Leicester Coritanian's at the London Marathon today. There was representation from youngsters at the Mini-Marathon through to the men who were competing for the club in the main race. The race now doubles as the National Road Race Championships and the youngsters had previously been selected for the East Midlands Team after competing in trials held several weeks ago.
Ben Dijkstra was three seconds behind the eventual winner in the U15 boys race. He completed the 3 mile course in 15.07 to finish in second place.
Not to be outdone, Jordan Waine came third in the U13 girls age group with her time of 17.38. She was 15 seconds behind the leader, Katy Ann-McDonald and was really pleased with her performance.
Josh West was the only U13 boy and he completed the 3 mile course in 16.40.
In the Marathon, Chris Southam was spotted on the television at the front of the pack at the start of the race. He ran an incredible race to finish in 67th place overall and was the 5th fastest vet in the race with his time of 2.34.11! This time is the quickest marathon time Chris has run since 2009!
