Medals galore at the Midland Counties U20/Senior Championships
There were no fewer than 10 medals won by Leicester Coritanian athletes at the Midland Counties U20/Senior Championships which was held at Birmingham Alexander Stadium on Saturday 22nd June and Sunday 23rd June. With the intermittent rain and wind it was not ideal conditions for the competitors.
Leading the way with two gold medals was Forrest Francis with his shot and discus throws in the U20 age group. He won the discus with a throw of 43.70m and the shot with 13.28m.
Jonny Monk U20m won the 800m final with his time of 1:54.84. He beat the eventual silver medallist, Lewis Hayes of Kettering, by two seconds to win the Midlands title.
In the Senior Men's triple jump, Mitchel Kirby won the gold medal with his leap of 13.64m.
Silver medals went to Armani James U20m in the triple jump with his 13.46m effort and Elliott Powell who ran 22.0 for his 200m.
Bronze medals went to Kristian Edwards in the U20m 5000m with his time of 17:12.69, Alex Morris with his time of 51.13 in the 400m, Sally Preston U20w in the Hammer with her 42.81m throw and Amy Griffiths U20w in the 1500m with her time of 4:40.08.
