Silver medal for Amy and bronze medal for Forrest at the England Athletics U23/U20 Championships

Amy Griffiths U20w took a silver medal at the England Athletics U20/U23 Championships & European Trials at Bedford on Sunday 16th June in the 3000m. She held her nerve after Amy Mellor hit the front and dictated the pace with a couple of fast opening laps. Sticking to her task and sitting off of the pace, Amy ran a more even paced race and overhauled the fading Amy Mellor to take the silver behind Rebecca Weston with her time of 9:43.87.

Forrest Francis U20m took the bronze medal in the shot with a personal best performance of 13.83m. The youngster reduced his pb by 29cms. He also competed in the discus and finished in 7th place with his throw of 43.90m.

In the U20m 800m, Jonny Monk fought his way through the heats to take an automatic qualifying spot in the final with his time of 1:54.53. In the final he produced his personal best time of 1:52.55 to finish in 7th place.
