Midland Masters Cup Final, Nuneaton

A very big well done to the small group of athletes competing for Leicester Coritanians at this year’s Midland Masters Cup Final in Nuneaton.  Our team was depleted as our middle distance athletes had another event they had to compete in, leaving just 7 men and 2 women to cover events, but we still managed a respectable 6th  place out of 9 teams in the  “B” Final, with the highlight of the day, Sue Frisby breaking the Midlands W50 high jump record with 1.43 m and being awarded Eastern Region “Female Athlete of the Year”

PB’s  and SB’s were also achieved by many which bodes well for next year. In total, we had 8 first and 12 top three places which illustrated our competitiveness, but we could not cover all events and especially lost out by only having one relay team.

Masters or “Vets athletics is currently flourishing in GB and takes place in a very friendly environment where effort as well as performance is always  appreciated.

If you want to find out more about how to get involved and to boost our Leicester Coritanians Vets team for next year, please contact our team manager, Cherie D’Silva.
